“It’s time for you to go home baby.” My mom said feeding my son. For the last three days I stayed there trying to get my head together. After finding out the shit Tanisha did I couldn’t handle it. I left out of there in a hurry and hadn’t been back since.

“For what?”

“What do you mean for what? That’s your wife.” My mom loved Tanisha but I doubt she would feel the same if I told her what she did.

“Nah my wife wouldn’t do any shit like she did.” My mom hated me cursing and gave me the look to watch my mouth.

“What is so bad that you can’t go back?” I told her and she had the same disgusted look on her face I did when she told me. My mom didn’t judge anyone because we never knew what a person went through.

“Um I guess I wouldn’t go back either. That is some crazy mess but Gary you did her wrong for years. Granted it was never anything like that but she forgave you every time. I think you should forgive her too.” I thought about what she said and I didn’t know if I could. Men aren’t as forgiving as women were.

“Ok well go talk to her. She hasn’t called to check on Junior in three days and that’s not like her. I tried to call her and she shut her phone off. I was going to stop by there today but maybe you should.”

I can’t lie and say I wasn’t a bit concerned that she didn’t check on the baby because she usually called my mom constantly to see how he’s doing. I sat there talking to her a little longer and laid around the house for a while. I played with my son until he took a nap. I hopped in the shower and decided to go get him more clothes and see if she was ok.

I pulled on my street and there were cops and ambulances everywhere. I jumped out my car and went towards my house to see the door was opened. I saw the EMT’s coming out the house with my wife on a stretcher pumping her chest. It was as if my life froze. I couldn’t move, talk or see anything at the moment.

“GARY. GARY.” I heard Raven yelling to snap me out of it.

“What happened?”

“I don’t know. I hadn’t heard form her in three days and I came to check on her. She didn’t open the door but her car was here. I knew the baby was with your mom and since her car was here I knew she was. I started panicking. Gary I called Darryl but him and Hasaan were in a meeting over that paper we found at the church. I tried calling you but your phone was off.” I looked down and it was still off. I never cut it back on after Tanisha tried calling me after I walked out.

“What happened to her Raven?” The ambulance pulled off and I jumped in my car to follow and never heard what she had to say.
